Fairfax excels in it's environmentally conscious policies and progressive and diverse population of about 7,500 residents. The downtown is a laid-back, comfortable place well visited by the locals on foot and by bike, day and night. The movie theater, variety of culinary spots and good venues for jazz and other music make it a terrific place to hang out in the evenings. On the weekends the pubs are boisterous in the afternoons with mountain and street bikers alike spilling out of the open patios sampling thier well earned micro brews. Seasonal farmers markets are held at the library on Sundays and on Wednesday nights in Bolinas Park. The annual Fairfax Festival includes an impressive EcoFest, parade, wine tasting and much more. The town is home to many local artists and musicians and everyone knows it's the gateway to some of the best hiking in Marin. Even though our address is San Anselmo, we're so close to the border that my daughter and I consider Fairfax our town and we spend a considerable amount of time walking around and hiking there.
